    The Carbon County Visitors’ Council (CCVC) promotes travel and tourism in Carbon County, Wyoming. They are a great resource for travel & lodging information, area attractions, free visitors guides, area maps and local event information.

  • Fort Fred Steele State Historic Site and Seminoe State Park

    Fort Fred Steele State Historic site is about 13 miles east of Rawlins, Wyoming and 1.25 miles north of Ft. Steele Rest Area just off of Interstate 80, exit 228.

  • Grand Encampment Museum

    The Grand Encampment Museum preserves history with its collection of over a dozen historical buildings. Artifacts in its collection represent the timber, mining, and agricultural history of the Encampment valley.

    When: Memorial Day through Labor Day, Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday 1-5 pm

  • Hanna Basin Museum

    The Hanna Basin Museum, located in the old Community Hall building was originally constructed as a saloon in 1890. Sharing the site is the Miner’s Cottage, a restored, exemplary Two Twon house. The museum’s collections and exhibits offer visitors insights into the realities of life on homesteads and ranches, in coal camps and company towns. The Carbon Archive contains primary materials defining an early mining community on the original line of the Union Pacific Railway.

    Winter: Thursday and Friday 1-5pm

  • Little Snake River Museum

    The Little Snake River Museum building was the Savery School for many years until 1972. This main building houses several exhibits including the Dr. Noyes Room and the John Terrill Room. There are several more rooms brimming with various items from the Valley’s past. With the addition of more land and buildings, the museum has grown to include 9 historic buildings and three newly constructed buildings. The beautiful grounds in Sa very are a great place for a family gathering or picnic, and feature a barbeque unit and picnic tables.

    Where: One block north of highway 70 in Savery, WY

    When: Memorial Day to some cold day in October, everyday from 10 am-5 pm

  • Medicine Bow Museum

    The Medicine Bow Museum is located in the historic Union Pacific Railroad depot. The building was built in 1913 and operational through 1981, when it was deeded to the town of Medicine Bow. In 1983, the depot became home to the museum and its colorful collection of artifacts relating to the Old West and local history. The museum grounds also house the Owen Wister Cabin and monument, and a UP Caboose, and feature a collection of local cattle and sheep brands.

  • Parco/Sinclair Museum

    The room in which the museum is presently located was originally the First National Bank of Parco from 1924 to 1933. The next occupant was the Parco Federal Credit Union which conducted their business for many years in this room; it looks much the same as it did in the early 1920’s. Beyond the inner door was once the Parco Mercantile Company that sold groceries and general merchandise. Also, tucked in one corner was the Parco Post Office. All of the upstairs rooms of this building were the offices of the Producers and Refiners Corporation.

  • Saratoga Museum

    The Saratoga Museum provides the opportunity to explore the history of the Platte Valley from early man to pioneers, tie hacks, clergy, railroads, and the women working beside them. The museum collection boasts and extensive geology exhibit, as well as a sheep wagon, blacksmiths shop, beautiful pavilion and more.

    When: Memorial Day through Labor Day, Tuesday-Saturday 1-4 pm
